Lemesos is a vibrant and cosmopolitan seaside town in Cyprus, combining the functions of a city, port, wine industry hub, and resort.
The Lemesolians are known for their fun-loving character, contributing to the lively atmosphere of the town. It is the location for two of the island's main festivals: the festive Carnival, with costume balls and parades, and the Wine Festival in September, showcasing the local wineries.
The city has a rich history, with ancient kingdoms of Amathus and Kourion located in its territory. The ancient Kurion Theatre, a magnificent setting, is used for summer concerts and theatre productions. In the Middle Ages, Lemesos hosted the wedding of Richard the Lionheart and served as the headquarters for the Crusaders, who produced the world's oldest named wine, "Kommandaria".
Today, Lemesos offers a ten-mile coastline, a bustling shopping centre, numerous tavernas and restaurants, and a diverse nightlife. Popular attractions include Lemesos Castle, housing the Cypriot Medieval Museum.
